So, it looks like BP has a jump on us in going after newly independent
lands (insider trading!), but hopefully we can all enjoy the spoils in
a civilized manner...You know, with armies and guns and all that. I
wanted to let folks know that snakes expect to move into Thurii X and
Roman Republic X-413. I am not "making a claim" because I don't think
that it makes sense for the first person to "call" a region is the one
who gets it. I think that independent regions are pretty much up for
grabs, and someone who reads this newspaper later in the day should
not be out of luck just because I was bored at work before he or she
was. What I am doing, however, is warning folks that I will be pumping
snakes into those regions very soon, and if you happen to have armies
there, they might get bit. I will not consider that an act of
aggression, as I will not continue to attack your lands after we have
decided ownership of those regions. If you wish to contest me for
those spots, heck, that might even be fun in this world that appears
to have descended into a question of who will give more lands to whom.
We all have too many armies lying around getting fat. This is boring
both because it involves no fighting, and, you know, because my friend
porcupine is clearly winning that war, so I want another kind that
maybe I have a chance in! :-)

Anyway, that's all I have to say. Maybe if I move through some
independent regions I'll even be able to link up with old friends!
