Your correspondent has learnt that the first part of the
reorganization of the army is now finished. The number of regiments is
down from 72 to 8.  This means that 5 of them are now at full strength
and the other 3 are almost there! The same drastic action has taken
place within the mounted arm, only 3 squadrons remain.   Many famous
names have gone forever, Hargreaves Heavy Horse, The Galloping
Gallants and the Snorters to name a few.
The whole defence network has been revamped around three huge new
fortresses and every other placement and type of unit has been
scrapped to avoid the confusion that lead to the recent defeats.
Chief of the General Staff Field Marshal Sir Gordon Bennet is reported
to have said that Brigadier Charles Bromley-Pugh   has done a first
class job, it all sparkles like the gin decanter eh!
