The Alamo, Rorkes Drift, Custers last stand. These are the epic tales of courage, endurance and bravery. Of fighting against overwhelming odds. Of determination and never say die! Tales that stir the blood when told round the campfire, that passes from lip to lip. And now, to join them, shall I relate the tale of The Raging Bastards Demise? Unfortunately no, as at the moment the details are somewhat sketchy. It was well known that the 18th regiment of foot (the Raging Bastards) had been cut of from their own lines after a successful advance against a joint force of crack Hermes and Kalvis elements. Their base (Hill 121) had somehow mysteriously vanished leaving them without support and surrounded on all sides. Before the final battle Captain Charles Bromley Pugh had successfully escaped and carried the Flag to safety, in fact he was given 8 flags to transport plus all the silver form the the officers mess and 127 letters which explained why it took him three weeks to get back to Federation lines, and he told of wave after wave of fanatical fanatics fanatically attacking. It seems that the only survivor is the batman of Col Digby Worthington, private (second class) Albert Spod, who heroically acted as the Colonels right leg during the last engagement against a Kalvis division. A Kalvis officer is reported to have disclosed that in the end only the Col (and his right leg) remained standing, all other Bastards having been slain. As five of the enemy approached him his right leg (Albert) kicked one of them below the belt and the Col immediately reprimanded him for ungentlemanly conduct. Doing this caused Digby Worthington to be distracted and another ran him through and he fell over for the last time, taking Albert with him. The Officer immediately saw the political implications of the disclosure that last opponent to be killed in the battle would be a lowly batman that was strapped to his dead superior officer and quickly shouted STOP!. TAKE THAT MAN PRISONER! Hopefully more details will be forthcoming at a later date. ====================================================================== PE-WJ-Diplo [Bold Porcupines X]: Cold Porcupines Date:Sat, 29 Jul 2006 04:26:48 +0000 To reply, log in at http://www.powersedge.net/?Page=Login or use your newspaper form. If we have any friends left in the world, please send us some warm fuzzies! We don't want to be cold and prickly any more. If we could just figure out how to make blankets, we wouldn't need our quills anymore to keep warm, and then maybe we wouldn't be so scary to the people and fellow animals around here that we'd really like to be friends with. A couple of our old friends have been finding us pricklier than usual lately, and we sure apologize for that. Does anyone know how to make blankets? Also, we're in the market for a good set of barber's shears that we could use to trim our quills back a bit. Even if we don't get any blankets, we'll need to trim back in the spring...
