captain straight in the eyes. "The Regimental Flag must get back to
our lines, we are finished here". 
He spun round to address his remaining officers and, forgetting he had
lost his right leg in the last skirmish, fell over. His batman quickly
propped him up against a tent pole.
"We are down to three companies and two bagpipes. I expect they will
come again soon, it has been an honour to command the best bastards
our nation has produced! God save the King!" 
Captain Charles Bromley-Pugh galloped away from the doomed enclave
into the night. Already he could hear the hideous whoops and cries of
the approching SA formations. He was thankful that he had managed to
have a last cup of Earl Gray tea and a muffin before he had left.
