(This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== I would like to publicly explain my capture of Hiden City this turn, before the explosion of public messages is upon us. I'm sure I'll be accused of all sorts of evil and treachery and such things, so before that happens let me present my view. I am not involved in the current war between the two alliances, nor do I intend to be. I have had friendly relations with nations on both sides and obviously was not invited to join either alliance. Once the alliances were declared I realized that I would possibly have to fight one side or the other (depending on who wins this war), so I have retained guarded and careful friendship with some nations on both sides. Several turns ago, Arizona came to me and offered to give me a couple regions free of charge. I assume that by giving me these regions he was gaining a defensive advantage over his enemies, in fact these regions had once belonged to other nations. Of course, I realized at the time that Arizona's enemies would not be happy with me for doing this but I figured that free growth in a time of massive war was worth the risk. I would not have been shocked if Arizona's enemies had attacked my new regions to continue attacking him or possibly my other regions. In fact, I prepared for it. Fortunately for me, they did not attack me and I remained neutral. Then Arizona offered to give me several more regions if I would take them and then attack OckerBoy. I was bored and looking for another opportunity to expand so I accepted his offer. I then proceeded to take these regions, including Hiden City and attacked OckerBoy. The attack didn't exactly go as planned and I lost Hiden City and began bringing up reinforcements to retake it. These reinforcements arrived the turn before today's and I prepared to attack Hiden City. Then James announced that he had made an agreement with OckerBoy to take Hiden City very similar to my earlier deals with Arizona. Honestly, I was amused and impressed that the very idea I had used earlier was now being used against me. Bravo. However, after some careful consideration, I have chosen to ignore this sale. I consider Hiden City to belong to me as it is a very valuable region in production and strategic value. I see that James had already taken possession of the region when I attacked. I apologize to James for this and offer to reimburse him for his losses. I would also be willing to negotiate for the transfer of another of my regions to James as an exchange if he has already paid OckerBoy for Hiden City. I do not consider this an act of war, but if James and his allies do then I fully understand. I have no intention of attacking any TS regions but I will obviously defend myself forcefully if attacked. I'd be more than happy to continue discussing this interesting situation in public or privately. Let the name calling and cursing begin... (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== The Bald Porcupines have friends on all sides of the current conflict and are not taking sides. However, several turns ago, we agreed to purchase a region from OckerBoy (now known as BP-Gene, which is adjacent to Burning Flame), which lay between OckerBoy and Arizona. We contacted Arizona regarding the transfer and he was not unhappy, since it meant one less troublesome border for him. Attached to BP-Gene were two independents discovered by OckerBoy, which we also purchased from him; the total price was 80 units. 10 of those units were delivered several turns ago, but due to Aachan's intervention we lost our connection to OckerBoy until this turn and have been unable to deliver the remaining 70 until just now. We made Aachan aware that we still owed OckerBoy, so that he would not be surprised. We have just delivered the rest of the payment, and apologize to those who may not have seen it coming. In particular, we regret being unable to notify Arizona of the details of the outstanding debt; unfortunately Real Life has been pressing hard and my people's quills are falling out like mad due to the excess of stress! We will strive to do better next time. We are willing to purchase regions that lie in disputed territory between two combatant nations, but only if both sides agree in advance to both the transfer and the distribution of the transaction price. If anyone is interested, we are happy to discuss things further, now that the winter holidays are arriving and we have more time available at last! ====================================================================== PE-WJ-Diplo [OckerBoy]: Now Selling Date:Thu, 24 Nov 2005 10:07:03 +0000 To reply, log in at http://www.powersedge.net/?Page=Login or use your newspaper form.
