Dear Ontario,

Thank you for your words of explanation. Rarely is anybody entirely in
the wrong (or in the right), and rarely do they not have a side from
which things look reasonable. Certainly I understand that things just
got a little carried away between your desire for regions and
Bantumi's rush to rid himself of yet another kingdom.

Still, you asked me if I would not take those things had they been
offered to me for free. My goal here is to demonstrate that accepting
somebody's kingdom when they are doomed is not free, but comes with a
terrible price. Hopefully in the future people will take this example
and say to themselves: "Of course I wouldn't take those gifts! Then
I'd be dead!"

I realize that it may be wrong to punish apparently nice people for
their greed, and that I have probably done many things that should be
punished as well, but so be it: we will let the democracy of force
determine what is "right" in our world. If people think I am wrong to
punish Ontario so, then they may feel free to teach me a lesson about
hubris--I will not hold it against them personally. I would ask only
that they give me warning, in keeping with our agreements.

Incidentally, while I would generally enjoy fighting mano-a-mano with
a foe such as you, I am not about to presume to suggest to others that
they must stand back while I beat my head against your wall. James
Howlett, for example, has a perfectly reasonable claim to your
territories, and if I were you I would assume he will press it. Others
are not pleased by your sudden rise either. So, the war will proceed
as it proceeds, and I will make no promise of single combat.

Maybe this world should be renamed from wildnerness justice "the wars
of succession" fighting over who gets what when leaders pass on for
various reasons.
