PE-WI-Diplo [TwoCool]: My bad Date:Sun, 18 May 2003 05:09:15 +0000 I had fully intended to remove my alliance moniker from my nation name. This oversight was corrected scant seconds ago. My humble apologies. Perhaps other leaders have made the same mistake, and maybe not. Web War I continues? PE-WI-Diplo [H. Hornblower]: Has the LXG made a decision? Date:Sun, 18 May 2003 22:23:36 +0000 Just one nation removed LXG from its name. We had heard Frobenius wold as well, but that has not occurred. Does this mean the LXG has decided to sustain its alliance and bring this chapter of the world history to a close? Or does it simply mean that the LXG cannot make a decision? I would prefer not to see many more sailors and soldiers die futilely if the fate of the world is already decided H. Hornblower PE-WI-Diplo [Frobenius]: Forbearance Date:Mon, 19 May 2003 06:18:07 +0000 To the interested nations of the world, -xXx- indeed spoke truthfully of my temporary LXG status. Now that the immediate threat to existence has been averted, my Brothers wish to return to a life of solemn contemplation. It is troubling that the aspirations of a few powerful nations, spurred the entire world into such bloodshed. I hope that we must never again be required to take such drastic action. Certain parties have expressed interest in the political alignment of The Order, and one in particular seems to find fault with our timing. Affairs of state and matters of the spirit keep me from my diplomatic study for extended periods of time. Might I invite the esteemed Mr. Hornblower to spend some time in one of our chapterhouses to learn some patience? My objective in joining the LXG was to prevent the annihilation of the world as we know it, and I know that many of my colleagues in the LXG joined for the exact same reason. I have no doubt that, now that the crisis has been averted, they will remove the shared appellation from their nations' monikers and step out of the now nonexistent race for global hegemony. What they do after that, is up to them. Keep in mind, I do not speak for them, and am not included in any current deliberations the LXG may be making. Whatever they decide, I find Mr. Hornblower's ultimatums to be ill-conceived at best. In my opinion, the LXG can continue to preserve whatever unofficial connection they wish. To say that such an unofficial alliance will obviate future participation in world events is preposterous. Now that his Alliance is no longer in the seat for world domination, Mr. Hornblower feels it is necessary that "all nations feel like they have an opportunity to grow and succeed." Indeed, if that is what you truly wish, then what better opportunity than an unofficial LXG? The group consists primarily of smaller nations, who wouldn't have much chance for growth against giants like yourself, if not for their newfound friendship. Though I don't agree with him on all matters of politics, I don't find -xXx-'s surrender demands to be at all out of order. Many nations have taken losses as a result of The Alliance's initial declaration. These nations have done a service for the entire world, and don't wish to be left weaker than when they started. I would suggest that they put away their arms and negotiate things peacefully, but if they choose to press the advantage, that is their prerogative. It might not fit with Mr. Hornblower's definition of "interesting" to be at a disadvantage for once, but I don't think it should be the end of the world for the Alliance to be held accountable for what it started. The Order will not be actively participating in such an alliance, as we prefer peaceful and civil relations to any bloodshed. Any nation who wishes to initiate relations, re-initiate relations, receive our counsel, advise The Order, or discuss any pertinent subjects, is free to contact us. I personally hope to reforge my old friendships with former Alliance members, and perhaps start up some new ones. Though I look forward to these new correspondences, I must warn that I am no great conversationalist. Despite this long-winded message, I prefer plain silence to political posturing. However, when I hear my name being thrown about to justify outrageous statements, I am forced to make an exception. -Frobenius The Order PE-WI-Diplo [Tzu Doh Nam]: TA Continues to invade Date:Tue, 20 May 2003 15:33:14 +0000 It is very hard for the LXG to disband when TA members are continuing to invade our regions. It seems quite convenient for the TA to disband in name to stop the fighting on some borders while continueing to fight on other borders, building up their strength so they may redeclare in 4 turns at a great advantage. Former TA members: you must insist that your former fellows stop their attacks if you wish the LXG to disband or stop attacking. Everyone had time to resubmit moves last turn and yet TwoCool, painted dog and ImaNoob have all continued to attack. Hornblower threatens to do the same. If you don't cease your attacks, we must conclude that you intend to reestablish your alliance when the time comes. Actions speak--not words... We await your actions. Tzu PE-WI-Diplo [H. Hornblower]: Let's agree to a cease-fire Date:Tue, 20 May 2003 16:17:38 +0000 In a recent message, Tzu Doh Nam said: "It is very hard for the LXG to disband when TA members are continuing to invade our regions. If you don't cease your attacks, we must conclude that you intend to reestablish your alliance when the time comes. Actions speak--not words... We await your actions. Tzu " There are multiple things going on. Looking at the news, it appears that there have been attacks and invasions from both sides. As Tzu says, it is difficult to arrange a peace or decide on the future of alliances while nations continue to fight. There is a difference between attacks on an enemy territory and attacks to recover a territory you previously owned. I feel it is justifiable to consider attacks in the second category if one cannot make peaceful arrangements with the invading nation. This is what I have told Tzu; that he should leave the territories he took or face attack. Yet I agree that this type of talk will make reaching any decisions hard. I propose we agree to a cease-fire in place between LXG nations and former members of the Alliance. The cease-fire is to last for 2 turns. This should be adequate amount of time for nations to negotiate with the neighbors and make their decisions. To get the ball rolling, I will make my first step. I will not attack any of my LXG neighbors (Tzu, Ubuu, Kirdel) on this turn. I expect them to also agree to a cease-fire before the next turn (I realize they may already have sent orders to their armies and may not be able to recall them now) and to withdraw to the existing boundaries if they have already sent an order to attack. I cannot demand or order other nations to do anything, but I do request that former Alliance consider what I have suggested and cease attacks so the LXG can decide what they intend. Is this acceptable? Will other nations agree to a cease-fire while we work out the shape of the future? H. Hornblower PE-WI-Diplo [-xXx-]: Attention former TA members Date:Tue, 20 May 2003 18:14:12 +0000 Apparently not everyone in The Allinace was notified that it has been disbanded and has been publicly seeking peace with the LXG. To painted dog, Ima Noob, and TwoCool: I find it interesting that you managed to change your nation and/or leader names and remove the TA but did not manage to change your attack orders for the turn. Any LXG lands lost on turn 88 and any LXG units destroyed on turn 88 should be immediately returned and repaid respectively. Otherwise you will have acknowledged that you are still at war with the LXG and we will not be able to disband as our group is still threatened. You will have redeclared war and we will dedicate the full resources of the LXG to attacking you. With only 3 of you I would not think this course of action to be a wise one. Contact the nations you took regions from immediately and try to get them back their lands and any lost troops as soon as possible. This is the only way that disbanding the LXG is an option. That is all, -xXx- PE-WI-Diplo [The Watchers]: Worldwide Cease-Fire Date:Tue, 20 May 2003 18:18:46 +0000 The Watchers support the idea of a worldwide cease-fire to allow the LXG nations time to decide upon the future of the world. We have already negotiated arrangements with many of our own LXG neighbors. We have grown to like this world, and we hereby announce that we will never again participate in any alliance to end the world. This is in addition to our longstanding "No First Strike Without 2 Turns' Warning" policy. (If the world ever stagnates again, at most we will vote to restart.) Those nations who support peace must be evenhanded in opposing those who continue to fight, or the situation will degenerate further. Therefore, it should be noted that in addition to the ex-TA nations criticized by Tzu, three LXG nations (Skeletor, Kirdel and Frobenius) also made attacks last turn, so there appear to be offenders on both sides. Kirdel's were all small attacks and are easily forgiven, but Skeletor at least has no right to continue to invade AFENG at this time. We propose that all who have grievances about the current borders should air them publicly and give negotiation a chance. There should be no need to fight wars to recapture lost territory. If the LXG decides to disband rather than ending this world, then surely we can arrange for regions to be transferred as needed to produce a just outcome of the recent conflicts. The Grand Council of the Golden Horde PE-WI-Diplo [painted dog]: RE: Attention former TA member Date:Wed, 21 May 2003 11:20:45 +0000 To All, the nation of okavango is independent of any alliance & is seeking to reclaim its lost territories. It is understood the spoils of war, so we are prepared to do what is necessary to regain them. My quarrel is only with those nations, & to the end, that what was lost is regained. -painted dog
