Tournament 2012 - Special Rules
This universe is played using the standard rules in the Leaders' Guide, EXCEPT:
- Medieval Kingdoms and Empires Theme: This universe will be an epic conflict of medieval kingdoms and empires. Dive into some history (post Rome and prior to 1400 AD) and give us your best character! Who might have taken over the world, "if only..." ??
- Roleplaying is Strongly Encouraged! We'd like to see everyone with 10 or more regions send
out an announcement every week or two (2-3 turns). There is still a limit of 2 announcements per turn per player.
- All diplomacy and announcements will be sent immediately by email. (Limit 2 announcements/turn/player!)
- King of the Hill Victory Condition: The game will continue until only one player is left. The New Era rules will be ignored.
- The maps (region network) will be as unstable as in Time Vortex, Tournament 2009 and the Player Forum in recent years!
- A Special running "Greatest Nation" award (banner) goes to the player who achieves the greatest total production, looking at every turn thus far for the whole game.
- A second running "Biggest Nation" award (banner) goes to the player who achieves the greatest total number of regions, looking at every turn thus far for the whole game.
- Additional awards will be given for the best roleplaying, diplomacy, and so on!
- "Newbies' Advantage": Players may not be attacked for 15 turns after they make first contact with existing players... but they may sneak-attack!
- Special Information:
- Units have a 5 percent chance of needing maintenance in
each turn.
- Trade production is calculated by adding the industrial
production of all adjacent regions, then dividing by 5 and rounding
down.
- Success at adding internal and external links, or new
industrial production, is random, but the following values will "always"
(or almost
always) succeed:
- Add internal link to region with 2 total links: 30
units. (14 units to add internal link to a totally isolated region. Add 8 units for each pre-existing link of any kind.)
- Add external link to region with 2 total links: 20
units. (10 units to add external link to a totally isolated regions. Add 5 units for each pre-existing link of any kind.)
- Raise production from 0 to 1: 10 units. (10+3*0)
- Raise production from 1 to 2: 13 units. (10+3*1)
- Raise production from 2 to 3: 19 units. (10+3*(1+2))
- Raise production from 3 to 4: 28 units. (10+3*(1+2+3))
- Raise production from 4 to 5: 40 units. (10+3*(1+2+3+4))
- Adding additional production follows along the progression.
- Note: Strategically adding industrial production and links
can also increase trade production.
- Players will not discover other players, nor be
discovered by other players, if they have 7 or fewer regions. (And
maybe even 8 regions... do ya feel lucky?)
