Baldwin.  His time away from his Nation worried us, but his return frightens us!  Other than a minor disagreement upon early contact, Holy Outremer and the Maya have been friendly.  Yet, those most Holy sought to form an alliance against us.  Admittedly, the horse lords did have some common ground.  Yet both felt it necessary to accuse the Maya of hoarding resources and indicated they might attack.
Shortly after his return Baldwin has made public (and private) communications that indicate his rational thought might be compromised.  I know Baldwin had an additional link to an Independent village, therefore his public declaration of wanting to go to war can only be directed at the other horse lords or the Maya.  It is unfortunate to think that he would leave his capitol vulnerable, or that he would so disastrously break an alliance.  His only other option is to get external roadways to, again, attack a superior foe.
Perhaps we are simply a little paranoid, but we realize our position makes us a target; having the largest army is fought with peril.  We are soon coming on a new katun, one which heralds various discomforts and change in the Universe.  We have defensively aligned, for we know aggression would bring disaster; but things WILL change in this Universe.
Therefore, while friendly with all, the Maya realize they are in need of an ally in this Universe.  It is recent our ships have been able to reach the shores of your eastern lands, but communication is now easier; a greater percentage of messages should now arrive.  Know you of the Bearded Man?
One caveat, I will secure Baldwin's capitol with force if any other Nation decides it is theirs!  I claim second right of ownership, and would seek to return it to Baldwin.
