Power's Edge: Tournament 2007 - International News for Turn 32

From the NewsWire:

From the Grapevine:

  • A secret message has leaked! One Leader reportedly sent this message to another:
    Gordon;

  • OK, here's the deal... I keep Everybody's... I create a No Fly Zone there. You lose all prior claim and further attacks will constitute all out war. You repay any forces I have lost creating this No Fly Zone. This is the last possibility of peace!

  • K. Johnson
  • A secret message has leaked! One Leader reportedly sent this message to another:
    So far, so good.

  • Ape invaded with his entire strength?? That will draw fire for sure! That changes the picture a bit...we can go in via two paths, since Fluffy Duckie will split his forces to defend. He won't be able to defend all three fronts...I won't follow you, then, and this way we won't accidentally fight each other...If you come through my door on Turn 33, that puts you over his border on Turn 35. Or you can use your own door to enter, but tell me which you choose. Or do both, and we'll give him four fronts.

  • He may try to retreat such that we both have to attack the same Base at the same time. How about this as a rule of thumb...the first time we reach this scenario, you go into the gap first and I'll attack elsewhere or wait and transfer men to you the next turn. (And then on the following turn, move those men and I'll go through that Base and attack whichever of Duckie's Bases beyond that one that you don't choose to attack.) If we run into the same situation a second time, I'll go into the gap first. Figuring out beforehand gives Duckie less time to react. And we'll get some information from Ape before we cross the border. Let's do this quickly and cleanly so we can go home.

  • Please do send me a note with at least a general description of what you're planning. Thanks.
  • Observers report seeing a diplomatic message pass between Frodo and Aitrus.
  • A secret message has leaked! One Leader reportedly sent this message to another:
You sure do make your agents carry a heavy document when they visit.

  • Outline:

  • A. Quick summary of comments on your points:

  • 1) OK, and interesting, wow, remind me not to get on your bad side.

  • 2) OK, see response to (1). Viggen had 115 units in defense, more than he attacked with at Gemedet (did he hold back at Gemedet?). I attacked with 75. Losses were 47:28 me:him. Your transfer and forces I moved in put me at 75 in Everybody's... to his defense of at least 87. Unless he moved a large force into Viggen last turn we'll like withstand an attack. See item B.

  • 3) Agreed on all points. We have no border with FD. I will supply units if I can, but see my answer to 4. See item C.

  • 4) I have 3 borders with 2cool. I was already suspicious due to a semi-coded public message by Scorpi to him. Forces have been moved for defense at 2 regions, but the third was freshly linked last turn.

  • 5) Will do.

  • 6) Will do.

  • B. Please transfer what you can at Everybody's... I agree to 1:2 as you suggest. As I attacked with 75, and you transferred 23, could spare another 14? I can not justify a second attack on Viggen until my force would likely be superior to his. Losses are high for the attacker when the defending force is greater. I can have ~20 more of my own in 2 turns.

  • C. I have 3 borders with 2cool. One new this turn at a region that borders Everybody's... Other borders are more distant. One of my borders with 2cool also borders apelove. Some units are positioned in defense. I've asked 2cool last turn his intent against me and wait for a response. Unit

  • D. I have one border with apeloverag3, this is at a region bordering Everybody's... Apelove and have conversed cordially and have discussed a purchase by myself of his bordering region, Melbourne-150, border by regions of Things and Hobbits.

  • E. I currently prepare for a diplomatic response and attack by 2Cool. I position forces for further attacks at Viggen.
  • Emissaries of Scorpion carry this message to all:
Frodo; deal! I have emptied Gemedet NFZ. Aitrus; your wife is safe! She will be returned when the airways are safe again! Gordon; this won't end well!!! Prepare reparations, I count 26 so far... Things; please to make your acquaintance, we'll speak when diplomatic tension eases... Kelly J.

  • Emissaries of Aitrus carry this message to all:
This time D'ni had asked Frodo (and Superthing) to attack empty Ages so that Scorpion could not take them. We don't have to like it. Fluffy Chicken, were you going to talk to us? I didn't feel the love. Scorpion, return our diplomats to Albumia immediately, we don't negotiate with hostage takers.

  • Emissaries of Frodo carry this message to all:
Gordon, my actions are to prevent a blood bath, and I wish you'll wait before moving further. Duckie, thanks for your cooperation. Superthing, would you mind letting me in 42-142? 2Cool, would you rather buy or sell that Independent? Frodo

  • Emissaries of Gordon carry this message to all:
I'm out of private messages this turn, so I had to make this public. Apeloverag3, I do still want to buy that region, but I can not spare the units at this time. Events have become heated as you can see. Let us revisit when the world settles down.

  • Emissaries of apeloverag3 carry this message to all:
Aitrus, you shouldn't threaten Frodo - accept his payment, there's already enough to deal with!

  • Superthing has renamed the region Garternay as Things-5.
  • Superthing has renamed the region Blagulon Kappa as Things-118.
  • Invasion! There are reports that a massive force loyal to apeloverag3 invaded Fluffy Duckie at Algae! The defenders were hopelessly outnumbered!
... the victorious attackers take control of the region's 3 production!

  • Fighting! There are reports that Mswati fought with 07-Independents at Independent-24! The defenders were hopelessly outnumbered!
... the victorious attackers rename the region Swaziland-24 and capture its 1 production!

  • Skirmish! A small force loyal to Aitrus challenged Fluffy Duckie at Dragonfly! But the attackers were disastrously outmatched!
... the defenders report the incident to headquarters!

  • Fighting! There are reports that Mswati fought with 07-Independents at Independent-31! The defenders were hopelessly outnumbered!
... the victorious attackers rename the region Swaziland-31 and capture its 1 production!

  • Battle! There are reports that 2Cool attacked 07-Independents at 42-157! The defenders were hopelessly outnumbered!
... the victorious attackers rename the region Torpid-157 and capture its 2 production!

  • Invasion! There are reports that a massive force loyal to Fluffy Duckie invaded apeloverag3 at Baby Birdie! The defenders were hopelessly outnumbered!
... the victorious attackers take control of the region's 3 production!

  • Invasion! There are reports that a massive force loyal to Scorpion invaded Gordon at Everybody's...! The overmatched defenders fought bravely!
... the victorious attackers take control of the region's 3 production!
