This world started with rules quite a bit different from the rules it's ending with. It's no secret that there were communications between the many factions in this world prior to rules changing that influenced the direction of future endeavors. For my part, this world's gameplay has been spoiled and reduced due to the many different vendettas and revenge scenarios involved. Not that there's not a place in these worlds to pursue this aspect of the game, but the childish nature of some of the verbal or physical attacks has turned me off from the enjoyment of it. This is my reason for agreeing to NE, to escape from this particular combination of enemies. I plan to join and play in other worlds but there are some individuals that I've met in this world who I will simply avoid at all costs so that I do not have to deal with them in the same manner this world did. Regardless of the age or maturity level of these players, it's a sad fact that, just like in other online games though most notably MMORPG'S but also in other text-based gaming, that some percentage of players will be eventually alienated by the "griefer" type player. I hope that my next world does not subject me to the same situations or the same degrees of said situations. -Michael Ruler of Little Gamers p.s. One final note: Asterix, while I had no specific interaction with you in game aside from having to endure your personality, I need to say this. If you expect to be taken seriously in anything in life, at the very least attempt to communicate properly and make an effort to work on your grammar and spelling. Thank you. ====================================================================== PE-RA-Diplo [Asterix]: To Liitle Gamers Date:Thu, 03 Jun 2004 15:12:48 +0000 To reply, log in at http://www.powersedge.net/?Page=Login or use your newspaper form. This game is about war and all physical etc. attacks you've mentioned in your edification are Ok with the current rules. Owervise you should claim the rules violation. Sic. About vendettas. Unfortunately this game has not support this beautiful feature. I have tried it several times and always failed. This means that any nation pissed off by you, Tzu or xXx should immidiately quit this game and never come back. You may be happy though, you have won this game. Or is it xXx who won it? Probably it's him. And you just have not enough guts to challenge the big duddy? It's my best guess and it is correct, sure. About my grammar and spelling: your 'geek language' is not my native so I don't really care about this. That was my last message in this RA-world, and you'll never be disturbed by Asterix anymore. Rest in peace and enjoy your tranquil universe without quarrels and enemies. **** This is regarding the real world **** I think that you live in barbarian country, guys. See the news from Iraq, what the hell are you doing there? And this is not a game - it's a real tragedy and humanitarian disaster. ====================================================================== PE-RA-Announce [Moderator]: Moderator Decisions Date: Fri, 04 Jun 2004 04:39:58 +0000 Announcement from the Moderator to All Leaders in Rival Alliances: Although technically the "New Era" movement does not have the required number of Leaders supporting it, I am going to invoke Rule 11 (Moderator Privilege, see http://www.powersedge.net/archives/RA/rules.htm) and send this Universe into a New Era anyway. Updates and direct communication with the Universe are hereby suspended; if you have something to add to the History please send it to me directly and I'll take care of it. (A reply to this email should reach me; if not, use the address on the powersedge.net home page.) The history of this universe has not unfolded in anything like the manner I had hoped for in writing the rules, and I accept my due share of the blame for the problems with the rules and their changes. But we need to remember that the real reason we are here is to have fun and hopefully learn a few things. It appears there's a broad consensus that this Universe has reached the point where it no longer does what it's meant to do, and it's better to declare an ending and restart. (We are fortunate to be able to do this; the real world is not so kind.) I propose two new Universes to succeed this one: the first should be played under something like the "old rules" of the Web of Intrigue universe (unlimited communication, maybe no other special rules). The second would be played starting with the current, revised rules of this Universe, in the hope that starting with the intent and spirit of the rules clear to everyone, we'd have more fun with it. I would make a few amendments: synchronized diplomacy only (no communication outside of the game system, so that in-game alliances are real and real-world relationships play less of a role) and alliance victory only (no New Era wimpiness). Both new Universes would require all-new identities for all Leaders. Does anyone have any additional suggestions? -- The Moderator P.S. All of you should reread the Code of Conduct. I see Code violations by several Leaders here. Now, I've been playing various games with Asterix for many years, and I know that Players who are American often have trouble understanding him, and his style is certainly annoying if you don't understand where he's coming from (hint: not the U.S.), but he's not immature and it's very relevant that he didn't grow up speaking English and doesn't live within American cultural norms. xXx, Tzu and Gamers - reread the "Everything in English" part of the Code: I've seen all of you at various times leap to unwarranted conclusions and say derogatory things based only on someone else's writing style. But in an international roleplaying environment, fluency with English has little to do with anything, could be someone acting purely in-character, and certainly is not grounds for prejudice or discrimination about the real-world person. (You don't have to like someone, and you can react however you like in-character within the Universe.) Asterix - Please reread the "Each Universe is Self-Contained" and "Everything in English" parts othe code: I need you to lay off the personal attacks and abusive language, and leave the real-world politics back in the real world too; we all agreed to leave the real world behind when we entered this fantasy Universe. (P.S. Asterix, if you want a successful revenge, you have to learn to build up your new nation more and get allies on your side before re-fighting an old enemy whose nation has been well-fed, partly on your own previous regions. Revenge can be done, and sometimes worked, though I won't say where or by whom. But it's not easy.)
