O mighty gods of the world, what have you done?

But a handful of turns ago, the world was finally at peace after a
century of wars.  People were happy; lands were productive, and the
Three Leaders ruled in harmony together over a mighty continent!

Look at us now.

Two thirds of the universe has been blasted into oblivion.  Disasters
innumerable have shattered all of civilization.  The remaining lands
can no longer produce enough to feed all our people.  And the great
continent is now a shotgun splattering of small and medium-sized
islands.  

The Arsenal Of Democracy thought we might appease the gods by donating
lands to our friends, but we only made the gods more angry.  We are
loathe to fight, but what choice have we?  If we sit longer, the gods
will only punish all three Leaders further, and eventually the entire
Universe will waste away, with none surviving.

The hot wars are over.  Passion and ambition are spent.  The cold wars
have begun.  We must do what we can to survive.

But we would rather die than give up our honor.  We will make no
surprise attacks.
Scherazade has scouted our lands, and messaged us to say, "I have
delayed as long as I can, but next turn the armies of Persia will act
to save our nation."  We feared this, and have scouted the lands of
Persia ourselves.  There is no ambiguity about her declaration of war.
The time has come.  

To Persia and the Dark Legions, we say this:  the gods will kill us
all unless we fight.  If we fight, at least one nation shall survive. 
We will not cry if it is either of you, for you are our
brother-nations -- but we will not go down without a fight!

And now, to see if we can reassemble our nation and its armies in time
to avoid destruction...

The world is in chaos. Many regions have disappeared from our world.
Just repeating the list of these once great lands brings tears to our
eyes. 

Before we speak on what is to come, let us pause for a moment and
remember the lands that have already ravaged. The list is a long one:

Allah has been merciful. He has promised that the destruction would
end when we bowed to his demand to fight until there was but a single
ruler  of all the lands in the world. Only this will bring true peace.


We and our friends The First and FDR, whose death has spared him from
the current horror, have resisted as long as we can. Our people are
dying, our lands destroyed. No more. We cannot fight such power. To
save the people of Persia from the wrath of Allah, we declare war on
The Dark Legions and The Arsenal of Democracy. We cannot fear the
results of war with other mortal nations after seeing what power is
arrayed against us. 

The story of this time will be a sad one. Even when one of us emerges
supreme, the tellers will speak of close friends forced to fight at
the whim of Allah. Tragedy is upon us. Let the mourners wail and fill
the world with their lamentations.
