I suspect something's up. I'd like to suggest that, if we don't hear from Ivan in a day or two, we pause this universe for a turn or few until we understand what's going on? -- Bob WP-PF-Diplo [Goth]: Re: Pause Game? I have no problems with taking a break until things get sorted out. WP-PF-Diplo [HeeterBob The 3rd]: Heard from Ivan... (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== The past week and a half has been busy, to say the least... I did miss one turn purely due to my mistake - I had some things going on and lost track of the days... Lunch time, two Wednesdays past, I realized that mistake when the turns came out... Oh well, just a missed turn, not to big of a loss... That evening when Kate and Julie got home, about 8:00, I got asked if I wanted to go to Cleveland... Ha ha ha - what's in Cleveland I asked. That was my second mistake; I should have just said no. Turns out my daughter won tickets to see Harry Potter early - Tuesday night in Cleveland!!! (Google "cleveland potter baird" to see her essay if you're interested...) Things start to get a little fuzzy at that point - but I had a chance, possibly my last chance as a parent, to make my daughter one of the happiest girls on the planet!!! Started checking flights, routes, places to stay, things to do... Flights were to expensive, so I agreed to drive her there! Thursday and Friday were pretty much research and arrangements to get the time off work - and Saturday morning at 7:37 we left Fredericton, NB headed for NYC to briefly visit a second cousin there. After getting to NYC and taking half an hour to relax, my cousin (Larry) took me up on my bravado (I was talking to him on the phone Friday night and said I wasn't scared of driving in Manhattan) and had me drive while giving us a tour of, yup, Manhattan!!! Two hours in downtown Manhattan... Long day!!! Sunday we headed out from Larry's but had to make a pit stop in Hoboken, NJ. One of Julie's potential career path possibilities is a cake decorator and has her own portfolio of cool cakes she has done. She absolutely loves the tv show "Cake Boss" and since we were that close to the bakery we simply had to visit. Didn't get in though - there was about a two hour line up to get into the bakery and we had a long way to go before we settled for the night. Got pics though!!! We finished the day Sunday in Dayton Ohio. This was my part of the trip - I'm a military airplane nut, and an additional 8-9 hours of driving to get to the National Museum of the US Air Force to get to something on my bucket list was an acceptable addition!!! Monday we toured the museum - no where near enough time, but fantastic anyway - and later headed out to Cleveland. Tuesday in Cleveland we went to the zoo in the morning, then out to an early supper with Julie from Cleveland.com and her husband, and a couple of there friends. They gave Canadian Julie (as my daughter had become known after she told them we were coming!) some swag and paid for our supper - very nice - and had an extra ticket so "your parents can stop fighting about who gets to go!" Then, of course, Harry Potter!!! Wednesday was the start of the drive home - Julie had tickets for the opening night of the movie here in Fredericton, and wanted to go again! There were no guarantees, but I said we'd try! So, Cleveland to Niagra Falls (we stopped for a couple of hours to see the Falls) to Toronto (we took a detour through the city so she could get a good look at the CN Tower and some other sights) to Montreal (where we ended up in the city looking for some gas) to St. Hyacinthe (about 30 minutes past Montreal) - 18 hours on the road - that was our longest driving day! Thursday we made a straight run for home - and arrived back here mid afternoon... Yesterday was just a total write off... Today we head out to Nova Scotia for a Family Reunion - back on Monday... So, how far was it... 4700 kms, or 3000 miles. Average speed on the road was about 55 mph - we spent more time driving than sleeping, and including the museum, zoo, supper, and movie only had about 16 hours at attractions... Feel free to think I'm a fool, everyone at work does, and so do the Cleveland people!!! I should note, Kate (my wife) drove for 101 kms (60 miles) through Penn. state (right around Blue Mountain I think it was) while I had a nap, and again 105 kms (still 60 miles) between Toronto and Montreal while I had another nap... I drove the rest. There simply wasn't enough time to get turns played - what little down time I had during the trip was spent trying to relax and get ready for the next days adventures... Those last 500 miles or so were on roads that we travel semi often - which was part of the reason I took the route I did; it was nice to have familiar roads again... Anyway, I'm getting my turns done this morning - the 200 miles to NS later today are just a hop skip and a jump now - and will be back to take the next set too - so I'm back in business - albeit still a little burnt out! ;-) Hard, fast, long, no planning - it was like I was a teenager again - I don't think I'll ever do that kind of a trip again!!! :-) WP-PF-Diplo [HeeterBob The 3rd]: Vacation this week... I expect to be able to get moves in, though.
