At least until our new member grows his nation up to full strength... with which my nation would be happy to assist! Back in Character: A page from the Secret Chronicles of Heeter's Haven has gone missing, stolen by some unknown spy, and leaked through various diplomatic channels. It's authenticity is not in question but the content may have been garbled in transmission and translation. When it reaches you, it is in this form: "... the Charming Chalice of Gallifrey was not in GalSec after all... where did they hyde it? Do they even still have it? Could one of the Baron's bunions have pilfered it, among all the region swaps, without Gothaproblemgotnoanswers-the-Clueless realizing what was being lost? My wife force is ebbing, after so many hundreds of turns, without the Waters of Life that my old ally in Gallifrey used to supply us both, during the last World War. Either the supply must be renewed, or I must begin to transfer the rains of tower to my son..." WP-PF-Diplo [Ivan]: Damn you HeeterBob! Oh well, I guess I'm in.... I've had a quick look, and if everyone is amendable I don't think there is much need for a reshuffle of territories! I would guess people would need time to readjust their armies though. (Now, a little more characterish.....) I take the gauntlet you have thrown, HeeterBob! Long have I waited to finally have my chance at retribution! You and the Time Lords annihilated the forces of myself and my beloved Kathryn, but I have waited.... And grown! Not two turns after my remaining forces ran, you and the Time Lords were fighting amongst yourselves! But now, again, you call me to battle, and again you ally with the Time Lords! Let us have at it, then. Men of Galifrey, be aware that I have arranged to have Jenny command my forces against you! Together an alliance of Bargle, Mendeleev, and Ivan can bring back peace and stability to this Universe. Let us bring an end to the oppressive tyranny of the Heeters and Time Lords.... Ivan (PS - Welcome Sean Thiebault, I'm sure you'll find the friendliest wars here.... :-) When we meet, I'll see what I can do to provide a territory or two!) WP-PF-Diplo [Bargle]: Balance of War? (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Interesting. Out of character, this just seems too contrived to me, striving for balance is a naturally unbalanced situation (due to historical factors). If we really seek a balanced conflict like this, it would be more interesting to me to do a 'hard reset', allocate sides right from the start (before any contact is even made), declare some victory conditions that are attainable (e.g. 1 side holds 70 percent of occupied regions, or 70 percent of total production), and then let rip. In character, Bargle would never betray his ally, who has already given him so much support and assistance (in return for his gnat-like pestering of the Heeter hide). To turn against him now would violate all his codes of conduct. Just wouldn't happen... WP-PF-Diplo [Ivan]: Bargle, balance, alternative?? (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Mr. Bargle. You latest communique frightens me. Perhaps it was the newness of your arrival, near the end of the last Great War; or perhaps simply the excitement of initial expansions - but whatever the cause you did not seem to follow the immediate treachery of Galifrey upon their ally, HeeterBob, at the conclusion of that conflict. Please review your histories before stating you understand a Time Lord. There is no betrayal in an organized reorganization of power. You simply end your agreement, either publicly (preferred) or privately. Alliances form, ebb, reform - it is the nature of the Universe.... However it is only the now in which we battle. The Time Lords don't see the Universe this way, but they cannot deny our perception! HeeterBob, Galifrey - my heels have been waiting for a long time! Out of character; Balance is only ever the starting point, but it's usually a good place to start. The battles that follow are what counts! In the case of the last Great War, my ally/my wife (she's not a battle hardened general!) were pitted against HeeterBob, Galifrey (Borusa), and Mykkal - my position was very poor, and I believe all three of the Axis were seasoned WTWT veterans - but from a reasonably balanced conditioned Kate and I fell very quickly.... Kate left, not really her kind of game - but in her own words, now she understands the thing when I'm looking at it! I just re-rolled - and have been doing little ever since. The point is, that's what this game is really about.... It's more a training environment than simply trying to win. That's what Kate loved about it - nobody tried to overwhelm her, people were willing to explain things and answer her questions, a friendly little place to have a war.... The real war(s) is in another Universe.... That's why an agreement prior to an attack exists in this Universe. (For the record, she absolutely loved the expansion phase and may try again some time!) Simply put, if I was trying to win this game I would not have offered to rejoin the fighting the way I did! Openly daring anyone to attack me as a potential pre-emptive strike?!?! But joining either alliance was just going to offset the current balance and a slaughter would ensue.... Nah, I'm just here for fun, slaughtering is to much effort.... Look at the numbers; armies and production especially. Three Davids, two Goliath.... We beat them, they re-roll or leave. They beat us, the combined spoils will have created Leaders to big for this Universe and the Moderator will probably force them to re-roll anyway. Either way, we win.... :-) And then we turn on each other.... Now, if you're still not convinced, I'll propose an alternate arrangement.... I can again side with HeeterBob (that heel would just have to wait!) against the remaining three. Some rebalancing would probably have to occur in this case. (That's the biggest pro to the other arrangement; quickly to battle!) It's been about 50 turns since I fought a meaningful battle in this Universe, and my finger is getting itchy!!! :-) If this would be better suited? Ivan WP-PF-Diplo [Goth]: Borusa is coming... (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Ha! Finally, an end to this, HeeterBob! Ivan, why would I conspire with the Heeter spawn? My friend Bargle and I would be happy to have you join with us! Bargle, we are touched and are happy to have you at our side! We will never give in against the traitorous ???????????? son of ???????????? a ???????? ... ?????????Mess??????age ?????fr???om Boru??sa ... I have ???? escaped from the Time Lord's prison planet and am gathering my forces to overthrow Goth and return the Time Lords to their proper rulers. HeeterBob, please hold on. We will join you again soon. [out of character] Ivan's words in his last report were very well said. Fun is the name of the game. I am not a veteran of this site and only started with my Borusa entry into this universe. My understanding is that the Player Forum is a tutorial Universe and a way to ask questions, while having great fun. We do inject out of character items here. This particular universe does get reset, and territories and armies are tranferred to make the most enjoyment for all. Bargle, I have no problems with our fighting each other, as long as we both are comfortable with where we are with territories, etc. We will all need several turns to move armies. This probably means no attacks while we all shift around. I am bringing back Borusa, a much kinder and gentler leader. He will stick with HeeterBob through all adversity. So, Bargle you will not be betraying your current ally, because he will soon be gone. I do this to keep my characters "in character". That is how I have my fun with this universe.I suggest that we go with Borusa and HeeterBob against Ivan, Bargle, and Mendeleev. (PS. I also welcome Sean Thiebault. If you are new to the player forum, we are friendly and happy to help.) WP-PF-Diplo [HeeterBob II]: Ivan's alternative... (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Since we haven't heard from Mendeleev yet, and he may not want to be part of the triumvirate, I'd be equally happy to ally with Ivan against the Barony and Gallifrey... perhaps Mendeleev can join in later when his time comes! Mostly I just wanted to see everyone getting into the war, who wanted "in". There's no need for the honorable to have guilty conscience here!
