(This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== My Dear Mr. Bargle - I fear your forces have gone somewhat astray in entering my lands. I'm hoping that this move was an accident. However, if it wasn't, there are a few facts with which you should become acquainted, as a member of this Universe! You may find the Special Rules for this universe here, and I'm afraid they are a bit quirky: http://www.websofpower.com/archives/PF/rules.htm In particular, the third item in the list says that no warfare is allowed, except by mutual consent of all players involved ... and I don't recall granting you permission to invade me! (Mr Goth and I have, on the other hand, quietly given one another permission to start our little war... and Mr. Mendeleev and I have been negotiating the transfer of some of my wayward regions for some time... and Mr. Ivan and I were trying to find a solution to the Vulcanian problem... in all cases, perhaps we erred in not making any of these disclosures publicly, considering that you and Mr. Mendeleev are new to this Universe and only Ivan and Goth/Gallifrey and I have been playing under the quirky special rules... So I apologize if you were confused here...) Now, there are at least two ways we can get out of this little situation. On the one hand, if you want to join in the little war we have going on, you are more than welcome to do so! But in that case, we should grant equal opportunity to Mr. Mendeleev and Mr. Ivan. And among the 5 of us in this new World War scenario, we perhaps ought to discuss how we want to fight, either with Alliances or in an Every Ruler For Himself mode... Alternatively, if you'd like more time to prepare for a world war, you can withdraw your invasion force from Julie, and we can all sit down at the parley table (next to which is a capacious bar, well stocked with your favorite beverages!) and agree to a global conflict starting, say, on Turn 200 or so. Under that scenario, I would agree, and I suspect the leaders of Gallifrey might also agree, to voluntarily share a few regions and soldiers among all of us as friends, so as to bring all our vital statistics into better balance, and thereby make the war much more interesting and entertaining for all involved! Perhaps there is an even better choice. I will leave it to you to suggest a course of action, though perhaps Mr. Mendeleev, Mr. Ivan and the Great Leader of Gallifrey might also want to chime in! If, however, a gross injustice were to occur, such as an unprovoked strike or a larger nation's assault on a smaller one, the Table would be delighted to offer what little support it can. (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== The "Player Forum" was set up as a place to have a social, "friendly" game, as opposed to the vicious cut-throat power-questing in the other universes. That's why we have the "no wars without mutual agreement" rule -- we want new players to have a chance to thrive and not get picked on before they're ready. Clearly I'm not a new player, and it appears Bargle is ready to get into the scrum, so I say... war on! Now, the Gallifreyans can chime in to correct me, but I believe I speak for both of us in saying that we're anxious to get a nice new war going. We'd both been talking about waiting for a while so that the three "fresh start" nations finished their growth, but that got boring, so we started our own war. The public diplomacy by Goth was intended to give me an excuse to pick a fight when I was ready... Anyway, I'm happy to make that a wider conflict with whoever is interested in "joining in"! Bargle, en garde! (I have little confidence in winning a two-front war with you and Goth, but you never know... maybe one of the tricks up my sleeve will work! And my nation has grown a lot of weeds and was due to be cut down to size, anyway...) -- Bob WP-PF-Diplo [Goth]: My 2 cents Date:Wed, 06 Oct 2010 09:59:12 +0000 To reply, log in at http://www.websofpower.com/?Page=Login or use your newspaper form. HeeterBob has been most generous with his advice. Ivan was a worthy and gracious opponent. I'm up for any conflict. If Ivan, Bargle, or Mendeleev care to join in with us, please do so. We should figure out sides (or free-for-all) and I think HeeterBob and I are willing dish out some property and forces to even things out. Goth does appreciate Bargle's style, though. Eric
