Unfortunately, I'm running out of bullets, soldiers, regions and production now. Sunshine has over 400 units parked on what used to be my best region (and I now feel his earlier pain!), and UniNet has over 100 units on every border worth fighting over! (And throws them at me whenever he gets the chance and has reinforcements arriving soon, eh?) Well, it will not be long for me now, and I look forward to watching the two of you slug it out! UniNet no longer has the fewest regions... Sunshine no longer has the least production, and now actually has the most units... I am just happy to have a seat for a while longer... (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Bob-- Things may not be quite as bleak as you think just now. Currently you have a quarter of total production and 28 percent of all units. This is almost exactly where I was on turn 142 (25 percent of production and 27 percent of units). That was when I assumed I was out of the game and sent this: .... ...generally im thinking that this war is unwinnable, but... with my recent error its quite possible that we could test whether this is really tru--mebs im vulnerable enuf that u can finish me off without getting behind the other guy. still, i have every intention of coming back from this current mess and once again restoring parity, so u2 should consider that a challenge and wipe me out. if u cant do it now, when you each have 40 percent more production and 40-50 percent more armies, then it will never happen, i think. o, ya, and my regions are spread out and isolated, so after cleaning that up i should be easy to pick off. so, no--no deals w ne1. i think u should crush me, tho it would be a very mean thing 2 do. .... So, Bob, two things. First, I think you have one viable strategy left to try. It's not what I did, but I think it would work. Second, you are right to be proud of everything you have done. This game has been a blast, and it was all because of your suggestion that we change the dynamics of the championship by essentially starting a new game and inviting Programmer in. You made that suggestion when I holding you back, but we both knew you were going to win eventually. You'll notice also that on Turn 155, the point of the last battle I can find between Ivan and me, you were well ahead of both of us in production and had built up a small lead over Ivan (and a big lead over me!) in armies. That's a tough thing to do in a 3-way game--all three of us have been ahead before, but never by that much I think. I will always bow before your military prowess, as I'm pretty sure that you'd beat me in any head-to-head match. I think if you made any mistake at all this game (and it's not at all clear yet that you did) it was in not rising to my challenge and finishing me off when I was on the ropes. hugz dave p.s. Ivan, don't think that I don't bow before your military prowess also. I am most in awe of your radically new development strategy, which I would never have thought of and which appears to be far more viable than I ever would have imagined. You are also, of course, a military machine (no pun intended) in this game, but those praises need to wait until we have you down to 25 percent of total production... smile... It is not known from where the attacks originated. In response, a potential bug in the code has been exploited and the existence of SecurityNode has been created. SecurityNode is completely Off Grid and therefore can never taken! [Bob, you might want to consider random reconnects in these situations - kind of a random explorer finds previously unknown route???] UniNet 1.2.5 (build 879456 PWR0841lock) Hey guys.... I'm just proud to be in this game.... I'm also happy I still have some strategy left! [smilie] Here's what I had and did: a strong core and reasonably few pivotal regions; then I went mapping (just like I said) and that map was useful until Bob's recent changes. Then I turtled! I kept track of where your armies were for quite some time. I'm proud of my map! I'm certainly pleased to have gotten to know Sunshine, Adam and now Ben. But, Bob, I don't think either of us would feel confident enough to expend the forces necessary to eliminate you. I think the laws of diminishing returns favors you at the moment! I'm just glad I took Land when I did, so I saw those 300 plus headed to my border! That and the 100 or so left in 800-Flowers. Nah, you are small and dense enough now that you just have to wait until Sunshine and I get to odds.... Direct email replies do not go to the sender. (This is intended to protect the privacy of other players.) ====================================================================== Hey, if you get stuck with a region that's all alone, you can use 10-15 units and build a new internal link. Then reconnect to the rest of your network where you see fit. In past games I've used those isolated regions as almost a sixth move - stockpile production and units in an isolated region (or group of regions), and then when the time is right link them into a critical location and deliver the accumulated army...
