Dear Mr. Programmer,

I think it is really bad of you to launch a multi-pronged attack on gardens in the springtime. If you kill the flowers, you are just going to make it harder to keep the weeds out. Already I'm finding creeping charley in the partridge pea prairie. That's one of my favorite restoration sites, providing habitat for natives and butterflies and all manner of birds. Your exotics don't provide the diversity that is so important in that part of the garden. And when I send in all of my gardeners to tidy up, well, who's going to regulate financial markets? .

Gentlemen, 

I'm pleased to report that our organization remains on track to meet our quarterly goals. Since my last report, production is up 7 percent, market capitalization is up 10 percent, and we have somewhat stabilized the viral infestations by purchasing our Symantec division. This investment will need to be secured with a large capital infusion. Unfortunately the flowers have gone to seed in several spots, and weeds have overrun the Jasmine farm which is vital to our scented products factories. 

On the positive side, our competitors have seen their stocks driven to lower P/E ratios, which  makes it easier for us to deploy capital.

Our strategic planning team has recommended a new long-term strategy, including a broad reorganization.  The details are still being hammered out but the broad picture is quite exciting. Because of the possibility of leaks, I will deliver the news to you orally only, at our next meeting. 

And, as always, I will appraise you on our progress at the end of the quarter!
